A Personal Trainers Perspective On The Best Mountain biking Trails in Fort Ord, Monterey: Trail 82

Fort Ord National Monument is located in Monterey County. It features mostly cross-country style riding, but there are a few fast rippin' hidden gems that can make it worth your while!

I'll be showing you all the best trails in Fort Ord in upcoming videos, so stay tuned!

Trail 82 starts as a mellow traverse and ends up as a fast rippin' downhill. The top is fast and flowy where you're met with some serious rain ruts. There are two rolling downhills that can be cleared at speed to better avoid braking bumps and ruts.

As the trail steepens there's a blown-out right hand turn into an almost unrideable left-hand catcher’s mitt berm with another blown out left shortly after. This is where the trail really gets fun with a full-on no brakes downhill.

The trail once more flattens out after a tight left and you do a small traverse to the bottom where there are a flat right into a flat left - flat right catchers mitt.

These berms are almost unrideable at the moment but will be much friendlier after rain. Watch for sand and stay light on your bike!
